Inspired by the recent success we been having at Hillsdale, Jeff & I were itching to get back out there and go after some more of these winter crappie. Even though we only had an hour and a half to fish this afternoon, we just had to give it another try. The conditions were good; mild air temps in the 50’s, a slight NW breeze, and the crappie were hungry!
We caught a number of crappie but most impressive was the overall size of the fish today. The ones we did land were very nice and we finished up with a good 25 fish stringer. Anyone who is familiar with Hillsdale knows it is loaded with crappie but not very many “lunkers”; so we were quite surprised with the quality of fish today – eight crappie over 12” and a couple pushing 13 inches.
As evening drew near and the wind died down we were treated to another beautiful Kansas sunset.
